When it comes to using photography as a ministry tool I usually think of its use in two ways:
- To communicate a need or issue, and motivate the viewer to take action
- To document another ministry for the purpose of encouraging and thanking those that supported it
This week I was able to use my camera in a new way that I’d never thought of. A missionary asked me to go with him to a Bissa village about 6km away. TK, a volunteer with the Hands-on-Africa program has been staying there with a Bissa family. He has been sharing the Gospel with his new friends in the village and needed a way to keep track of who lives where.
The three of us hiked through the bush up a nearby ridge where we had a good view of the village and the compounds. I took about a dozen shots that I stitched together for them to create one extremely large digital photograph. The missionary and TK will label the homes so that future volunteer teams can connect with the folks he established relationships with. Click the image to the right to see the panorama.
After taking the photos the three of us had a great time of prayer and worship on the hillside. There is something special about being out in nature and praising the great Creator – always leaves me full of joy and opens my eyes even more to the beauty around me.
