In the Central Region of Ghana one finds wonderful lush rainforests. Kakum National Park is 145sq mile preserve that was initiated not by the government but by the locals. The park protects some endangered species such as the Diana monkey, giant bongo antelope, yellow-backed duiker and African elephant.
The park’s most unique feature is that it has one of Africa’s only two canopy walkways. The canopy walk is 350 meters long and hangs up to 40 meters above the forest floor.
Heidi’s mother Jo isn’t too fond of extreme heights, but she handled the walk much better than some others have.
