On Christmas morning we drove south to our church in Kolinvaai as we have done in years past. There we celebrated the birth of our Savior with our brothers and sisters there.
Pastor Sugri shared the story of the announcement and birth of Christ. Then church members sang worship songs in different languages. After Mampruli, Komba, and Bimoba songs, our family sang “Go Tell It On the Mountain” in English. Then William preached on the prophesy in Isaiah 9 about child to be born and called “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.”
As is the church’s tradition, we shared a meal at the pastor’s house after the service. Church members ate rice balls and groundnut stew. We were given a special “take away” box with jolof rice and fried guinea fowl.
On our way home we stopped for a family Christmas photo in our “winter wonderland.”
