
Pastor George Obongu stands in his church’s storehouse which holds bushels of groundnuts (peanuts). In his village of Sumnibooma#1, groundnuts are a major cash crop and most of his members grow them.
In many of Ghana’s rural churches, members don’t have money to tithe but faithfully bring a percentage of their harvest as an offering to the Lord. The church then redistributes some to the needy in the community and sells the rest to add to the church budget.
