March and April mark the end of our long dry season that began back in November. As you can see from the drone shot of Nalerigu below, everything is really, really brown.
The humidity has been building and building as the weather inches closer to rainy season. This results in rising temperatures and super-sweaty days. A few days ago it hit 112°F (44.4°C) on our back porch!
Locals call this time of year daawaligu in Mampruli meaning “days of sweat.” Families often sleep out in the open in their courtyards to seek relief from their hot, sweaty rooms.
Bonus: look closely at the drone shot of Nalerigu and you’ll see our brand new black top roads in town. The paving project started in March 2018 but then was abandoned after the rough, first layer. They finally came back to finish the top layer of asphalt. It is amazing how nice & smooth it is now!
