It’s been almost 18 months since we last hiked to the Gambaga Rapids and I had that crazy little “encounter” with my truck’s windshield.
Heidi, KJ and I invited a large group of BMC medical volunteers to join us on the hike (Trey has already returned to the US). It is quite a long hike from Nalerigu so we drove to Gambaga and reached the scarp from there which shaved off a few miles from the trek.

I happy to report that everyone made it down and back up just fine!

I also lugged my vintage 9x12cm camera down and made a few black and white, reverse positive prints. I’m a bit obsessed with documenting the rapids because they will disappear under water in a few years once VRA’s Pwalugu hydroelectric dam is completed on the White Volta River.
