Before we left Ghana for the US, Heidi spotted what appeared to be a basal-cell carcinoma on William’s scalp. William had complained of it bleeding and scabbing over whenever it was scratched. We got two other doctors’ opinions and they all agreed it would be a good idea to remove it and send it off for pathology.
So after packing up our house and saying our goodbyes, the last medical procedure Heidi did in Ghana was to cut this suspicious bump out of William’s head.
She brought some sterile instruments & lidocaine to the house and went to work in our bedroom. Once it was removed and placed in formalin she stitched William up and he was good to go.
A few weeks later, we got good news that it wasn’t cancerous at all, but was just a compound nevus (a variation of a mole).
