Nearly five years ago I posted a “The Devil’s in the Details” photo from Ghana. This time I’ve got one from Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
This image was made near the stockyard during Ramadan. Tens of thousands of sheep and cattle are brought into the city from Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali to sell to Muslims preparing for Tabaski (the festival of sacrifice). In order to bring as many as possible in one tractor-trailer, they add a second level in the trailer and fill it with sheep. Check out the unloading process in the second, zoomed/cropped version of the first photo.
