For school, Trey did a short write-up on his observations of the Damba festival. Here is his report along with some of his own pictures:
In Nalerigu, in the Mamprugu Kingdom, at the Nayiri’s Palace (Paramount Chief’s palace), it was a new year! We were at the Damba Festival. At Damba, there was a beautiful, decorated horse. He was annoyed because he didn’t like his decorations of gold carpets and rugs. Also, his right legs were tied together. There were men with guns and the guns made a “BOOM” when they were shot! There was a praise singer with a talking drum who sang all the past chiefs’ names. A talking drum is a drum that when you squeeze it (after pounding) the tone changes. Damba was crowded, but still exciting.
