Recently we were extended an invitation to visit with the paramount chief so that he could also give KJ a traditional name. When he we told him her name, he said that she truly had the best name possible and he blessed it. Now that she has been officially named/blessed by him, her full name is prefixed by his. This makes her Naa Bohagu Wumpiinikasi.
At that same meeting, Trey asked the paramount chief if he would bestow a traditional name on him. He was then given the name Manboora with means “I want.”
Our wise chief put a double meaning in there. Traditional “Manboora” means that the community “wants” the individual to be a part of them. But in Trey’s case, he was named because he said “I want a name too.” So now he is officially Naa Bohagu Manboora.
