Ms. Denice Klein-Douwell has been faithfully serving in Ghana since her first years here as a PeaceCorps volunteer in the 1970s. She lives near the escarpment in Nakpanduri and we always enjoy paying her a visit and discussing the happenings in the region and back in the States. She is also always full of fascinating history and stories.

My kids enjoy the trip because they like to see her goat, monkey, dogs, ducks and donkeys – it’s quite a zoo!
With Dr. Nastia Furtak leaving this next week, it was also a chance for her to goodbye this dear friend.
As soon as we arrived there was a short but heavy rain. It cleared the skies and then we could see all the way north to Burkina Faso from her house (look closely in the image below for the mountain range in the back).
