After a recent trip to Kenya for an education conference with the kids, William took them on an epic hike up a dormant volcano north of Nairobi.

Longonot last erupted in the 1863 but still has enough geothermal activity deep below it that Kenya taps into it for energy.
The first two miles of the hike are very steep as you climb the slope of the crater. Once you reach the edge, you have a bit over 3 miles to hike the circumference on a narrow, eroded trail. There is on more steep climb as you summit the peak on the northwest side of the rim.

I was very impressed with the kids for hiking the full distance which included 2500ft of ascent! KJ in particular was a trooper considering her small stature.
