While on vacation in Europe, William wanted to do a big hike in the Austrian mountains before EUC’23. We picked Hoher Nock which seemed like a good challenge – strenuous but doable for our family.
KJ had been feverish and still managed to do half of the hike. At that point, she and Heidi turned back and Trey and William continued the trek up. At one point they went off trail (thanks to bad info on their hiking app) and were scrambling up steep rocks and through brush for a while before reconnecting with the weathered trail.
We eventually made it to the summit and got back down before dark. It is always a memorable experience to talk challenges as a family and prove to ourselves that we can do it through teamwork and encouragement.
