First Baptist Church of Nalerigu has had only one deacon for the past couple decades. As the “mother church” to all the others in our local Baptist Association, they decided it was high time they ordain some new deacons not only to improve the administration of their church but to set an example to the other churches.
Song & dance during the worship service Chief John Tarana has been the only deacon for years Other chiefs and even a local imam came to the service to support family members & friends being ordained.
The pastor of First Baptist Tamale came to preach the sermon charge for the new deacons. Then Rev. David of FBC Nalerigu presented them to the congregation and had them take a vow of commitment to service. Following that, local pastors laid hands on each deacon and prayed for them.
It’s great to see the indigenous local church stepping up to their Biblical responsibilities. I’m sure the pastor will greatly appreciate the relief these godly men and women provide him through their service to the church body. It will allow him to focus on prayer, preaching, and teaching of the Word.
