I first went out with Dr. Fuller Robinson on his village dental clinics two years ago. Now, I try to join him every time he comes. It’s such a joy to be around him and see him in action.
I believe this was his 45th dental mission trip to Northern Ghana (but who’s counting) and the Roanoke, VA native is now 91 years old!
This clinic was held in Kolinvaai, a Mamprusi village about 10 miles south of Nalerigu where we often attend church. Dr. Robinson’s two loyal dental assistants were with us, our German friend Adi came along and Tommy Harrison was the driver.
Dr. Robinson sees a patient at the BMC dental office before we take off Waiting in Kolinvaai for patients to arrive Patients who want teeth pulled line up on a bench A patient gets injected with a numbing agent. Dr. Robinson in his element. Instructing his young pupil Adi Salifu, a member of our church, after having a tooth pulled. hCleaning instruments and packing up at the end
Hands down, my favorite moment was after we had packed up to go, Fuller pulls a harmonica out of his backpack and starts playing old hymns!
