One of the challenges of living on the hospital compound where we serve is that it is difficult to get a real break. Anytime there is a surgical emergency, Heidi gets a call and is just a couple minutes away. We’ve found the best way for us to get some real rest and relaxation is to pack up and leave town for a few days.

This year, we took 4 days off after Christmas and drove 65 miles to the city of Bolga. There we were able to get an air-conditioned (!!!) hotel room, eat at some restaurants, visit some American missionary friends, and even swim in a real swimming pool!
One of our favorite little excursions was a hike in the Bongo Hills northeast of Bolga with our friends.

We came back to Nalerigu refreshed and ready to tackle the new year!
