Our first hint that Trey’s success at the Unicycling World Championship was gonna be a big deal back home was when we crossed the border at Paga. The immigration & customs officials recognized Trey from Ghanaian TV and lined up for selfies and group photos with him.
Nalerigu greeted us with a float (Ghanaian English for a parade/motor vehicle procession) and Deema Naaba (Chief of Entertainment) insist we enter the palace to greet the NaYiri, Overlord of Mamprugu.



A week later we found out the town was preparing a “super celebration” for Trey. They had a 14 person planning committee and had invited chiefs, politicians, musicians and dance troupes. A flyer was distributed online and a giant 5-foot long banner was printed and hung in front of the NaYiri palace!
