The river is a favorite hang out for the kids from the village. They help their mothers carry the dirty clothes down then they splash and play while their moms wash the clothes and gossip. This boy was sitting on the bank of the river when we took Trey down for a swim.

This colorful setting is at the Happy Child Learning Center in Nalerigu, Ghana. The boy tried hard to look quite studious with his book open. I love the texture on the walls – you can tell it gets LOTS of wear from the children.

When going down to the river we passed this man returning from the hunt. Unfortunately he was returning home empty-handed. What do they hunt up here? There are some small deer in the bush as well as very large rodents known as “bush rats.” I’ve had bush rat before and almost broke a tooth on […]

I went to a local elementary school and was taking photos of the artwork in their courtyard. One of the teachers yelled at all the kids to leave so that I could take my pictures. I was snapping shots and then spotted this curious boy peeking around the corner.

The rain storms are getting fewer and farther apart. Yesterday I was working on some computers at the hospital and a torrent of rain came down. I snapped a lot of shots of the downpour but my favorites were the ones after the rain had stopped and water dripped off the roof. This image is […]
